How It Works
The process:
- Core NJT scholars decide on a topic.
- Preliminary research to discover the best sources and representatives of different sides of the issue.
- Creation of “Mishnah” statement of the issue
- Invitation to scholars, students, interested parties to participate in the discussion
- Post of “Mishnah” and skeletal “Daf” to open forum (see Dafs on Abortion, Evolution, or Afghanistan, e.g., which are at this stage) to generate interest and ideas
- By clicking on the '+' symbol anywhere on the 'Dafs', You add your comments at http://newjerusalemtalmud.org
- Web 2.0 editing: our moderators, editors, and research staff will provide links & background to your comments, and highlight them or move them next to other relevant comments
- Event: Discussion. Includes/generates:
- Notes of each present participant of most important points
- Video
- Teleconferencing of virtual participants
- Transcription of discussion
- Compilation and distillation of “Daf” from the notes, transcript, and research (& links) (see the Population which is at this stage)
- Synchronization of points on the Daf with transcript and links (see differnt stages at “Climate Change” and “Assimilation” dafs)
- Publishing to website of interactive Daf (prototype will be up in two weeks)
- Additional commenting/ editing from outside scholars
